The Complete Guide to Your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

You have been circling the idea for months — maybe years. This guide walks you through exactly what a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh involves, so the only surprise left is how much it changes you.

01What Is a 200 Hour YTT, Really?

A 200 hour yoga teacher training is the internationally recognised entry point into teaching yoga — the certificate that Yoga Alliance, studios and students around the world treat as the foundation. But the number is misleading: those two hundred hours are not a stack of lectures. At Adhiroha they are twenty-four lived days of practice, study, food, rest and community on one green hillside in Upper Tapovan.

You do not need to be flexible, experienced or certain about teaching. Most of our students arrive as dedicated practitioners who simply want to go deeper — and leave surprised to find themselves standing at the front of a room, teaching.

02What the 24 Days Look Like

The rhythm is the real teacher. Mornings open before sunrise with cleansing practices and pranayama while the air is cool, then a strong Hatha or Ashtanga Vinyasa session. Mid-morning turns to the mind — philosophy, anatomy, alignment. After lunch and a proper rest come teaching methodology and adjustment clinics, and the day softens into meditation and mantra as the light fades.

“By the second week you stop checking the schedule. Your body simply knows where to be.”

Wednesday is the weekly rest day — for the waterfall trek, the Ganga aarti, or blissful nothing.

03The Curriculum, Subject by Subject

Every subject is taught by a dedicated specialist, never one generalist covering everything:

  • Hatha & Ashtanga Vinyasa — the two asana pillars, from fundamentals to confident practice
  • Alignment & Adjustment — Iyengar-style precision, entering and exiting postures safely
  • Pranayama & Shatkarma — the science of breath and the classical cleansing techniques
  • Anatomy & Philosophy — the living body and the Sutras of Patanjali, taught side by side
  • Teaching Methodology — sequencing, cueing and the art of holding a class of real people

In the final week you design and teach a full class to your peers — nervous at breakfast, glowing by lunch.

04Fees, Dates & What Is Included

The course begins on the 1st of every month and runs 24 days. Triple-sharing starts from €1275 All-Inclusive — your room with ensuite hot-water washroom, three sattvic meals a day, all study materials, excursions and your certificate. A €300 registration reserves the seat and is always part of the total, never an extra.

Good to know: groups are kept small on purpose, and the cooler months by the Ganga fill up early — booking two to three months ahead is wise.

05Is the Certificate Recognised?

Yes — twice over. Adhiroha is registered with Yoga Alliance, USA and recognised by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Graduates register as RYT 200 teachers internationally, get hired at established studios, and start classes of their own. A certificate that reads “trained in Rishikesh” carries a weight the same hours elsewhere simply do not.

06How to Prepare

Far less than you fear. Comfortable modest clothing, a light layer for cool mornings, and an open mind — every prop and manual is provided. In the weeks before, practise a little daily, sleep well, and reduce the scrolling; the quieter you arrive, the faster the place works on you.

And if doubt shows up before booking — over cost, time away, or whether you are “good enough” — know that nearly every graduate hesitated exactly there. Write to us; a real person will talk it through honestly.
